Allen Amis Creations

Phoenix Comicon

We had a combined booth this year: Allen Amis Creations, Anabel Martinez Art, and Men vs Cosplay.

On top of getting ready for the convention, we had a house full of amazing house guests, because I wanted to show some friends our local show! : ) Rick Marson of ZOMS has stayed with me before, so his spot was reserved. 😉 He even brought his artist brother, Jeff Marson, along.

We invited Bill Doran of Punished Props and Steven K Smith of Steven K Smith Props into our “everything is lava!” paradise here in Arizona.

Due to some conflicts in real life (dog surgery, job contracts, etc), we had a minor moment of stress because I had fewer new prints than I anticipated, and Allen didn’t have as many new props ready due to commissions. But, you know, sometimes you gotta do the best with what you have!

We had done a combo booth at Albuquerque Comic Expo before, with huge success, so we opted to go for a similar set-up! At Amazing Arizona Comic-Con, our “Men vs Cosplay” banner confused some people, so we opted to break up the booth to have a better flow.

Booth Set-Up:

Anabel Martinez Art. I had my video game art on display, with my standard pink banner. I had a new Garrus print, which was a hit! Lots of people snagged him with another Mass Effect print or two. J

Allen Amis Creations. The Dragon Age Inquisitor bust and Skyrim bust ended up being our “showcase pieces,” to show some of the best/most recent work done by Allen Amis Creations, and draw people to our booth. J We also had Allen’s Fallout NCR Ranger banner up, next to Cap Santiago’s Skyrim Dovahkiin.

Men vs Cosplay. For Men vs Cosplay, I wanted to sell our remaining calendar stock and promote the project in a fun, engaging way. Instead of shoving the project into people’s faces (since our social media outreach through Facebook has been slow and steady, the way I like it!). So, we had a small display for the calendar, and the guys around for several meet and greets throughout the weekend.

I worked with the convention costuming directors – Lee and Jen Palmer – to arrange three panel slots. Lee and Jen were fantastic to work with, as were the costume panel moderators. Very excited to do do panels at PCC again.
